HomeMarwan Hatem
Marwan Hatem joined Rehab Hamdy Coaching in June 2024 during a critical stage of his athletic development. Transitioning from the Junior category into U23 racing, he possessed strong talent and speed but had limited experience in Olympic-distance triathlon and the demands of elite-level racing.
When Marwan started the program, his standalone 5km performance stood at 16:30, while his off the bike 5km run was 18:10. Alongside the challenges of high performance sport, he was also pursuing a demanding degree in Physiotherapy, balancing intensive university studies, examinations, and long clinical placement hours in hospitals.
Through a structured block-periodized training approach, carefully planned around both his academic commitments and recovery needs, Marwan made significant progress within his first six months. His off-the-bike run improved to 17:05, and he went on to win the Egyptian National Championship. During the same period, he also recorded the fastest 20km bike split among all Egyptian athletes on the course, demonstrating substantial development in his cycling performance and race execution.
In 2025, Marwan faced a major setback when family circumstances forced him to step away from training between May and October. Following a five-month break from structured training, the focus shifted toward rebuilding fitness progressively and safely while maintaining a long-term development perspective.
After returning to training, Marwan once again demonstrated his commitment and resilience. Within only four months, he achieved a new personal best of 15:55 for 5km and improved his Functional Threshold Power (FTP) by 5%, highlighting both his consistency and long-term athletic potential.
Today, Marwan remains one of Egypt's most promising U23 triathletes. Our current objective is to pursue qualification opportunities on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. While the journey is highly competitive and challenging, we are committed to maximizing every opportunity and continuing his progression as an elite athlete.
Looking further ahead, our long-term vision extends beyond immediate results. The ultimate goal is to guide Marwan toward reaching his peak athletic performance and competing at the highest possible level in the lead-up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic Games.
His journey is a testament of patience and the power of long term athlete development, proving that success is built not only through talent, but through consistency, discipline and a commitment to continuous improvement.
